Palau de la Musica Catalana

Yet another modernist marvel in the Barcelona old city
this one not by Gaudi, but just as visually opulent.

Well worth the time and money for the tour. Ornament of all kinds covers every
wall, floor, ceiling, column and fixture in the place – seemingly more than the eye
can take in – and above the concert hall is an enormous stained glass skylight.
Endless mosaics, stained glass, glazed tiles and sculptures represent mythical and
musical themes. This is a functional concert hall that attracts more than half a
million people a year. Regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world, and it
would be hard to imagine a more glorious place to hear a symphony. Snack on
artfully composed pinchos in the cafe too.
