Las Ramblas

In the center of it all – Barcelona’s most famous and crowded
street. Enjoy the energy, but watch out for pickpockets!

Human statues, caricature artists, flower dealers, souvenir stalls – they’re all here on Las Ramblas for your entertainment while you’re wading through a river of humanity. Many people say they like the excitement, people-watching and spectacle of Las Ramblas. To me it’s mainly something to experience – just so you can say you saw it – while on your way to somewhere else, like La Boqueria, the Gothic Quarter or Barceloneta. On Las Ramblas, there is no need for fear – violent crime here is almost non-existent. But care must be taken to prevent petty theft of wallets, purses, backpacks and bags. Finally, avoid the food and souvenirs here. Get a few blocks away in the Barri Gotic or El Born and there are much better restaurants and shops with good food and artful, well-made wares.
