Trencadis

Trencadis is a Catalan word with the same root as the English word truncate, referring
to mosaic created from cut or broken tile. It’s a unique art form covering the entire
surface of the Serpentine Bench at Parc Guell. Culled from the scraps left over from
ceramics factories, the various shapes, patterns, reliefs and colors don’t look like they
should go together. Thanks to some mind-boggling artistry, they do!
